While artificial intelligence (AI) technologies have their place in various fields, we believe in fostering and celebrating the unique voice and vision of human authors, poets, and artists. Therefore, we have established the following policy regarding the use of AI in submissions.
We do not accept submissions that have been primarily generated or substantially altered by artificial intelligence systems. All submitted work must be the original creation of human authors, poets, or artists.
AI-generated work refers to content that has been generated or significantly influenced by algorithms or AI systems, including but not limited to language models, text generators, and image manipulation tools. This includes works where AI has played a substantial role in the creation process, such as generating plotlines, characters, or language usage.
We believe in the authenticity and creative spirit of human-authored work. Submissions should reflect the unique perspective, voice, and artistic vision of the creator.
Our editorial team carefully reviews all submissions to ensure compliance with this policy. Submissions suspected of being AI-generated will be subject to further scrutiny, and if found in violation, they will be disqualified from consideration.
Authors, poets, and artists submitting work to Talon Magazine are expected to disclose any significant use of AI tools or technologies in the creation process. Failure to disclose such information may result in disqualification of the submission.
In cases where AI tools or technologies have been used as part of a collaborative creative process involving human authors, poets, or artists, disclosure of AI involvement is required. However, the primary creative contributions must be human-authored.
Exceptions to this policy may be considered on a case-by-case basis, particularly in cases where AI is used as a supplementary tool in the creative process and does not significantly alter the originality or authenticity of the work. Authors may request consideration for such exceptions in their submission cover letter, providing detailed explanations of the AI's role and impact.
